Downy Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker - Picoides pubescens
Appearance: Sparrow-sized black and white woodpecker with short, chisel-like beak. Up close, black eye-stripe and male has a red patch on the back of his head.
Behaviour: Climbs tree trunks and hammers bark to dislodge food. Inquisitive and fairly tame.
Habitats: Forest, especially open forest. Visits bird feeders.

Eastern Bluebird
Eastern Bluebird - Sialia sialis
Appearance: Robin-sized blue bird with rust-coloured front. Up close, male has a blue head and back, female has a brown head and back.
Behaviour: Perches on farm fences watching for insects. Nests in tree holes and uses nestboxes. Call is a clear whistled trill.
Habitats: Open habitat, especially old fields and farm pastures.

Eastern Kingbird
Eastern Kingbird - Tyrannus tyrannus
Appearance: Dark grey flycatcher, smaller and slimmer than Robin, with white front, a triangular-shaped head and a white band at the end of the tail.
Behaviour: Catches insects in flight. Aggressive bird, it will chase much larger birds away from the vicinity of the nest. Perches in the open. Call is loud and harsh.
Habitats: Open habitat, especially grassland, old fields with hedgerows.
