Bryan Adams’ photography exhibit

On Friday, October 22nd, Toronto’s Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) will open a new exhibit of photographs by the well-known Canadian entertainer, Bryan Adams. Made in Canada features 89 stunning black and white portraits of prominent Canadian women in a number of sectors, from the arts to public life. The photographs on display in the ROM’s Garfield Weston Exhibition Hall until Saturday, November 6th, are also published in Mr. Adams’ newly-released book of the same name, published by Key Porter Books.

The book and exhibit projects were created by Mr. Adams to raise awareness of, and funds for, The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The ROM is presenting this unique exhibit to the public to bring a new level of audience awareness to this important health issue. Admission to this special exhibit will be absolutely free for the length of its stay at the ROM.

Referring to the exceptional women in his photographs, Mr. Adams said, “I’m delighted to give the people of Toronto the opportunity to see such an extraordinary document of Canadian beauty.” Made in Canada, with the faces of some of Canada’s most outstanding women, was photographed in London, Hollywood, Tokyo, Toronto, Vancouver and New York. Conveying a remarkable range of emotions, these dramatic photographs were inspired by the tragic death of one of Mr. Adams’ closest friends from breast cancer.

The public opening of the Made in Canada exhibit will be an integral part of the launch of Friday Nights @ The ROM, the Museum’s new weekly program of cultural entertainment, themed activities, food and beverages. Starting October 22nd, admission to the ROM will be absolutely FREE from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Fridays, giving visitors access to the Museum's fascinating galleries and exhibitions (except special exhibitions such as the upcoming blockbuster, Egyptian Art in the Age of the Pyramids), as well as its delicious restaurants and unique shops. Each week, Friday Nights @ the ROM will feature a different theme and fun programming to enhance the traditional museum visit, from performances to informal social gathering spaces.

Mr. Adams will officially open both Made in Canada and Friday Nights @ the ROM at a public ceremony at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 22nd.

Bryan Adams has more than 20 years in the international music spotlight and is one of Canada’s biggest entertainment exports. Attracting many musical accolades around the world, for the past few years he has been exploring another side of his artistic vision with the camera. Made in Canada, his first book of photography, will be on sale in The ROM Shop. After leaving the ROM, the exhibit will travel to Canada House in London, England.
