ROM magazine
Since 1968, the ROM has published a magazine for its Members, providing insights into the Museum's latest research and acquisitions. Published quarterly, ROM, formerly entitled Rotunda, showcases intriguing artifacts and specimens from the Museum's extensive collections-everything from meteorites from Mars and duck-billed dinosaurs to First Nations carvings and a court dress that once belonged to Marie-Antoinette. You'll also read about the studies our curators conduct in the Museum's labs and collection rooms as well as in the field-and what they are discovering about the world.
Reading through the pages of ROM magazine is like having a personal tour behind the scenes at the Museum: you'll see objects not on display to ROM visitors, learn about the techniques used to unravel evolutionary mysteries, hear which are the curators' favourite objects and the stories from their field adventures. Recently redesigned, the new ROM also features columns by renowned food writer James Chatto, who explores the history and culture of cuisine, and celebrated University of Toronto philosopher Mark Kingwell, who contemplates material culture.
A significant platform for ROM and guest curators to discuss news and views on a wide range of subjects, the magazine also runs a section specifically for Members filled with Members-only content-details on reciprocal days at other cultural organizations, free lectures and previews, various ways to support the ROM, exciting travel opportunities, and more.
