On this sculpture, the appendage
at the back of the sledge represents a set of caribou antlers that are often attached
to sledges. The antler “handles” facilitate steering the sledge around
obstacles and if the runners become stuck, the antlers are convenient for pulling
the sledge back out of snowdrifts. |
