WINTER TRAVEL: THE SLEDGE
WINTER TRAVELTRAVELLING BY DOG TEAM | THE SLEDGE | THE DOGS | HARNESSING THE DOGS | THE WHIP

On this sculpture, the appendage at the back of the sledge represents a set of caribou antlers that are often attached to sledges. The antler “handles” facilitate steering the sledge around obstacles and if the runners become stuck, the antlers are convenient for pulling the sledge back out of snowdrifts.
