Sealskin Float

The primary weapon for capturing sea mammals was the harpoon and sealskin float. The float, made from the skin of a seal, was attached to the harpoon head with the harpoon line and was thrown from the back of the kayak when an animal was hit. The float served to exhaust the animal and mark its location.
