Kayak sculptures

These sculptures depict the eastern Arctic style of kayak with the equipment needed to hunt marine animals, such as seals, narwhal, and birds.

  • The harpoon rests on the right side of the kayak ready to be thrown.
  • The harpoon-line rack is secured in front of the paddler, and the sealskin float that is attached to the harpoon head rests behind the cockpit.
  • The pronged spear lies on the left side of the bow; the lance and gaff rest on the stern.
