Etuangat Aksayook (1901-1996) received the Order of Canada in 1995 in recognition for his invaluable work of transporting the sick from outpost camps to the Pangnirtung hospital. Etuangat Aksayook was a master carver, and a number of sculptures in the Dr. Jon A. and Mrs. Muriel Bildfell Collection can be attributed to his hand.
