The acclaimed Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition premieres at London’s Natural History Museum each year, before touring more than 60 cities around the globe. From picturesque landscapes to striking flora and fauna, it showcases awardwinning images of our natural world.

The ROM proudly hosted the Canadian premiere of this awe-inspiring show, generously presented by Quark Expeditions. A leader in polar adventures, Quark Expeditions specializes in expedition cruising to the Arctic and Antarctica, and is committed to environmentally responsible tourism.

“Wildlife photography is one of the most popular activities our polar adventure passengers engage in, and we’re delighted to participate in the promotion of this sustainable, creative way of interacting with, and honouring, some of the world’s most rare and elusive creatures,” says Andrew White, president of Quark Expeditions.

One of the most challenging forms of photography, a single picture may represent weeks of waiting behind the lens, incredible technical skills, and vast knowledge of a natural area or an animal’s behaviour. The world’s most prestigious wildlife photography competition not only recognizes young talent, but is also a powerful expression of the urgent need for wildlife conservation.

A walk on the wild side! In Ontario, amateur and professional photographers submitted hundreds of images in a bid to be awarded the ROM’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year. The grand-prize winner, Steven Rose, had his photograph displayed alongside the show and will enjoy an epic 13-day Arctic expedition for two, generously donated by Quark Expeditions.
