Description
Students examine real and replica skulls of early and modern humans, comparing their structural characteristics, and forming a model of trends in human evolution and the development of the primate family. Discussion focuses on the processes of evolution, the limitations of the fossil record, and the evidence for an “Out of Africa’ hypothesis.

Curriculum Links: explain the fundamental theory of evolution; explain the process of adaptation of individual organisms to their environment; explain the process of speciation; explain how evolutionary mechanisms affect the development and extinction of species
