Description
By seeing and handling a large variety of specimens, students learn to describe how the three major types of rock are formed, to distinguish between rocks and minerals, and to conduct tests to examine their properties. The use of rocks and minerals in our everyday lives is reviewed.
The exhibit portion of this topic is enhanced by visits to the Gallery of Minerals, Gallery of Gems and Gold, and the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame.
