Northern Owls
Fix your gaze on these mystical birds of prey!
This exhibition provides an experience of owls; creatures that are active at night and secretive during the day. Eleven beautifully mounted owl specimens are featured in small settings suggestive of their northern natural habitats. Each display focuses on fascinating and less well-known aspects of owl behaviour, biology and lifestyle. For example, when the small animals they hunt are plentiful, some owls store their frozen bodies to eat later. You’ll probably never guess how they do it, but the exhibition will tell you that and many more interesting owl stories!
The exhibition includes the following specimens: Eastern Screech Owls, Short-eared Owl, Long-eared Owl, Northern Hask Owl, Great Horned Owl, Boreal Owl, Barred Owl, Snowy Owl, Northern Saw-whet Owl and the Great Gray Owl.
