Maya: Secrets of their Ancient World

A Mighty Civilization. A Mysterious People. A Mythical Past.
This groundbreaking exhibition features 250 artifacts that take you on a remarkable journey through the ancient world of the Maya.
A collaboration between the ROM, Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History and the Canadian Museum of Civilization, this exhibition explores the entire world of the Maya, from the rule of Maya kings and queens to the lives of everyday people. As well, we explore the mysteries surrounding the puzzling collapse of the classical Maya civilization.
This exhibition includes a special discussion of the Maya calendar and reveals the truth behind the '2012 end of days' legend.
The Kingston Prize: Canada's National Portrait Competition

The exhibition of the thirty finalists in The Kingston Prize 2011, Canada's Portrait Competition, will show contemporary paintings and drawings of Canadians made by Canadian artists. The winner of the Kingston Prize, presented by the W. Garfield Weston Foundation, will be announced at the beginning of the exhibition. The competition is organized by the Kingston Arts Council, and the exhibition presented in cooperation with the Institute for Contemporary Culture.
The Art of Collecting

The Art of Collecting brings together over 100 examples of the finest in European and American decorative arts, donated to or acquired by the ROM’s European Department over the last 15 years. Visitors will feel like connoisseurs as they peruse porcelain from the Sèvres factory, furniture by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, silver by Puiforcat, glassware by René Lalique and much more.

Who’s Drawing the Lines: The Journey of Judith Snow
Until July 1, 2012
Judith Snow is an internationally recognized author and lecturer, and a world leader on inclusiveness issues for people labeled disabled. Having lived a lifetime with quadriplegia, Judith uses painting and writing to encompass her own range of human capacities. The exhibit challenges audiences to confront their perceptions of disability while it illustrates Judith's journey to being an artist and social innovator. Visitors will be inspired by her outlook, and experience "all that is in [her] heart" through her art.

Embellished Reality: Indian Painted Photographs

This exhibition brings together 60 works from the ROM's collection that have been acquired in the last decade yet have never before been on display. They represent a distinctive aspect of South Asian visual culture, combining the practice of painting with the technique of photography.
