Iby-ref was a district councilor in Ancient Egypt. This rare wooden statue was carved as his double to secure his survival in the afterlife. It is inscribed with a prayer to ensure that he received sustenance like bread, beer, and linen in the next world.
There are many mysteries surrounding Iby-ref. To date this is the only statue of him in the world, preserved from his tomb; the tomb, however, is yet to be found…
