Join the Department of Museum Volunteers
You don’t have to be a history buff to volunteer at the ROM. All you need is a little bit of curiosity about the world around you.
The ROM's Department of Museum Volunteers (DMV) offers exciting volunteer opportunities which range from teaching visitors about specific objects in the collection, to leading heritage walks around Toronto neighborhoods, to greeting visitors as they arrive at the ROM. Join us for an information meeting and see how you could begin to contribute your time.
Information meetings are held before individual program training and orientation is provided to new volunteers. The DMV encourages the participation of volunteers from all walks of life including students, retirees, employed persons and other interested individuals. Half the fun of volunteering is the diverse array of people you will meet!
Information meetings are for volunteer opportunities. Paid employment can be found in the Jobs section.
People who wish to become volunteers through the DMV will need:
- Valid ROM Membership
- 2 year commitment
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Minor DMV dues upon Active status
If you are interested in volunteering with the DMV at the Museum, check back for the dates of upcoming information meetings. We receive a large number of inquiries and cannot reply directly to all e-mails. We encourage you to come to the next meeting (and bring a friend!) to get all your questions answered and begin your journey with the DMV and the ROM!
The next information meeting will take place on: Saturday, September 7, 2013. For further information please call the DMV Reception line at 416.586.8097. On the day of the meeting, please meet at the Staff Entrance located at the south end of the ROM on Queen’s Park Avenue, opposite the Planetarium at 10:15 am. We will greet you and bring you to the volunteer office.
