Be sure to book your tickets early for this limited-time exhibition. See The Forbidden City from March 8 to September 1 only.
Plan a Return Visit! Due to the fragile nature of some of the treasures on loan from The Palace Museum, these more sensitive objects; i.e, select textiles, paintings and paper objects, have been replaced with a brand-new rotation of similar treasures from The Palace Museum. Mark your calendars to visit the exhibition again. Or, for best value, become a Member today and get free access to both rotations.
To avoid the lines, we recommend booking your tickets online in advance. We look forward to seeing you! All ticket prices are per person, and include all applicable taxes and general Museum admission.

Our knowledgeable and engaging ROM facilitators bring your students inside the walls of the Forbidden City, the world's largest imperial palace, to uncover the secrets of China’s emperors. The Imperial Palace - once forbidden to all but the Emperor, his family, and his servants - is still home to over 5,000 years of traditional Chinese art and artifacts including exquisite gold, silver and jade objects, paintings, textiles and stunning imperial furnishings. Peak behind the walls and see what life was like within this vast, mysterious complex during the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) Dynasties to uncover the drama and intrigue of imperial life.
