Description
The abolishment of slavery in Upper Canada in 1793 provided hope and a destination for the millions of black slaves in the United States. In an interactive and thought-provoking lab, students investigate the nature of slavery, the adventures that brought Africans to Canada, and the challenges facing the early black community in Ontario. The planetarium dramatically demonstrates the importance of the North Star and the Big Dipper in guiding the fugitives to freedom in Canada.
Maximum 25 people (including students, teachers, educational assistants and supervisors) at one time.
Not available before 9:30 a.m.
