Description
Students handle real fossils and explore the ROM’s Dinosaur and Mammal galleries in order to experience the Earth’s extraordinary prehistoric biodiversity! In our hands-on lab students will learn how fossils are formed, and explore plants and animals from a wide variety of extinct ecosystems. Themes discussed in our galleries include the impact of climates on different habitats, classification of a wide variety of animals, and the reasons and consequences of extinction.
Curriculum links: investigate the dependency of plants and animals on their habitat; investigate classification systems and some of the processes of life common to all animals; investigate the interactions in an ecosystem; identify and describe rocks that contain records of the earth’s history and explain how they were formed.
Previously called Hands-on Fossils.
Do not combine with Discovering Vertebrates due to similar content.
