Description
This hands on lab and gallery lesson investigates the interaction of human systems with the natural resources of the Earth’s crust. What impact does their extraction have on the environment? How do we use these materials in everyday life? Case studies include the Athabasca Tar Sands, the diamond mines of the Northwest Territories, and Ontario’s industrial rock.

Curriculum Links: identify the role of government in managing resources and protecting the environment; assess the value of Canada’s key natural resources; evaluate differing viewpoints on the benefits and disadvantages of Canadian megaprojects

Maximum 140 people (including students, teachers, educational assistants and supervisors) at one time.
