Last May, two blue whales died in the Gulf of St. Lawrence ice pack and washed ashore on the doorstep of two small communities on the west coast of Newfoundland. This talk will discuss how this tragic event was turned into a positive educational and research opportunity.
The earliest settlement documented in Toronto was 17th century Teiaiagon, located at the first portage stop on the Humber River, now overlaid by the Baby Point neighbourhood in Bloor West. But what of the 10,000 years of history that came before? The ROM’s artifacts from Toronto reveal tantalizing slices of this ancient story - the most mysterious featured in this presentation by the keeper of the collection.
