Fashion in Shanghai Kaleidoscope

Added: August 29, 2012 - 16:48

Sally Wenba Wu introduces the work and unique style of some of Shanghai's leading fashion designers on display in the exhibition Shanghai Kaleidoscope at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto until November 2, 2008. Shanghai's rapidly changing culture inspires more then just personal style in these compelling and wearable pieces.

Shanghai architecture, urban design, contemporary art, and fashion are explored in Shanghai Kaleidoscope. This exhibition offers an insider's view of the high-speed, high-density, high-rise culture that is rapidly emerging in China's largest city.

Sally Wu, born in Shanghai, has been an active fashion designer in New York for 10 years. She has worked regularly with Shanghai apparel industry sources and is well acquainted with the leading Shanghai fashion designers. She carried out liaison work with Chinese artists for the International Centre of Photography's 2004 exhibition, Between Past and Future: New Photography and Video from China.
