Getting to and from work and home can be hectic.  Most of us use TTC or drive, and in doing so we miss much of what cyclists or pedestrians see clearly every day.  Did you know, for example, that a herd of “bunny dogs” romp on the boulevard at Wellington and John?  Or that Glenn Gould is amongst us, and invites us to join him on a bench to watch the world go by?  Where is Toronto’s newest wonder, created in China from 22 tons of stainless steel, and what message does it convey??

UK-based contemporary artists, The Singh Twins, will be spending Victoria Day weekend in Toronto to unveil their newest creation, a painting on the theme of the Sikh Diaspora in Canada.

Did you know that South Rosedaleis a Heritage Conservation District (HCD)? It is protected because its buildings are considered to be historically or culturally significant and require special care and attention to ensure that they are conserved. The application for the HCD designation was due, in part, to the loss of a number ofRosedalehomes to demolition or unsympathetic alterations.

Every building in South Rosedalehas been evaluated and given a rating.

It’s an elite group of people that have walked on the moon, but this weekend you will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share the experience with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin (or at least the image of them – Neil is reflected in Buzz’s space helmet).  Space Weekend, May 5 – 6 only, is shaping up to be out of this world!

Spring has sprung at the ROM, and as the season suggests, there are plenty of new things popping up around the Museum.

Five months of planning, three partners, one event.

Expectations were high for the WWF-Canada and ROM exhibit, presented by Loblaw Companies Limited, at the 2012 Green Living Show at the Direct Energy Centre, Toronto, April 13-15. “Canada’s Oceans and You” did not disappoint.

Packing and transporting over 50 specimens from the ROM to the Direct Energy Centre at the Exhibition grounds for the Canada’s Oceans and You: An Interactive Exhibition at the Green Living Show is not a simple task. Days of preparation happen: models are placed delicately in or on packing material, real taxidermy specimens must be cleaned and crated, and all are loaded neatly into trucks.

We returned from the field in Patagonia to the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. At about 13 million people in the metro area, BA is the largest city in the country, and third largest in modern Gondwana (behind Sao Paulo and Cairo). There are dinosaurs in Buenos Aires, but only in museums, as the fossils were found in other parts of the country- mostly Patagonia. We spent one day at the Natural Science Museum, or MACN, on the edge of Palermo.
