Museum Monday with Melissa

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer so far! Yesterday was the first day - and the longest day of the year. Time to get out and enjoy this beautiful weather. What a perfect time for the Museum to have so much to offer. Whether going with friends, family or a first date, there is something for everyone this week at the ROM.

Young adults will enjoy #FNLROM - the only sad part is this time it is the last one of the season! You’ll definitely want to come out and enjoy all of the wine, wonderful eats and incredible people that come out to such an amazing event.

This week, the theme is Let The Games Begin! The food option feature Ice Cream Sandwiches by Sweet Sammies and Randi’s Roti. Entertainment for the evening will feature music by Valeria Matzner with the Bill King Trio. With something different on each floor there is definitely an experience you will enjoy.

#ROMSpeaks this Tuesday is FREE, however, you must RSVP for the event. The topic is Indian Cotton for Cairo: New Insights on the Early Indian Ocean Textile Trade. The talk will discuss the ROM’s unknown and early collection of Indian cotton textiles that were traded to Egypt during the medieval times. This is truly going to have some intriguing information and lots to learn. Speaker of this event is Dr. Ruth Barnes. She is a Senior Curator of the Yale University Art Gallery’s newly endowed Department of Indo-Pacific Art.

And you HAVE to see #ROMpeii. Families, friends, as well as everyone and their brother must see it. It is arguably one of the best exhibits at the ROM. I have been lucky enough to visit the city of Pompeii in Italy just a few years ago and this exhibit truly brings the experience of being there to life. The exhibit will be on until January - but it is a perfect way to spend an evening this summer.

May your week be full of fun and adventure,

Melissa Doyle
