Portrait of ROM photographer Brian Boyle, by Tiffany Cuthbert

Thanks to the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival the month of May is all about photography and the ROM’s very own Senior Photographer Brian Boyle is taking this to heart!

Brian will be on hand at Friday Night Live, May 10 demonstrating camera equipment and sharing his expertise with visitors as part of the ROM’s CONTACT Photography Festival activities.

On May 29th the next ROMcafé’s topic is Why Photography? The Importance of Image and as the Special Guest Brian will no doubt spark lively conservation and offer fascinating stories about his over 30 years of photographing at the ROM.

Outside of his work at the ROM, Brian is an active member of the Professional Photographers of Ontario (PPOC-ON)  and former Vice Chair of the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC).  Some of Brian’s personal work will be on display in a group exhibition “The Photography Show” from May 1-19 at Gerrard Art Space (opening reception Sat. May 4, 2-7pm.)

Finally, ROM magazine is renewing its efforts to introduce readers to the many extraordinary people who work behind the scenes at the Museum and an article about Brian and his work will be included in the upcoming issue.  Keep an eye out for the issue (due out in June) and enjoy reading about extraordinary (yet modest) Brian Boyle.
