ROMwalks

Free walking tours of Toronto. Enjoy guided walking tours of the city's architectural and historic neighbourhoods. For additional information on these free walks call 416.586.8097 or download a copy of the ROMwalks brochure (PDF).

Also available are Private Group Walks that are perfect for clubs, community groups, or out-of-town visitors. These group walks are arranged specifically for you and can be scheduled for any day and time. For your group walk you can choose from the full selection of  ROMwalks (PDF). The cost is $10 per person with a minimum of 10 people. Call 416.586.8097 for more information about arranging a private group walk.

All walking tours are organized by the ROM's Department of Museum Volunteers.

ROM Members will visit the Gothic Revival Bloor Street United Church to see its Great South Window, a mid 20th century stained glass by Celtic Studio. You will then walk down Huron Street to St. Thomas Church, designed in Arts & Crafts style by renowned Toronto architect Eden Smith to view examples of stained glass design including ones from the Bromsgrove Guild.

ROM Members will enjoy the artistic treasures of Trinity College including; carvings by Charles Adamson, Emanuel Hahn and Jacobine Jones, heraldic ornament by A. Scott Carter, 17th century Flemish tapestry by Abraham Van Diepenbeeck, paintings by Sir Edmund Wyly Grier, and glass by Yvonne Williams and E. Liddall Armitage.  View a unique perpendicular Gothic chapel by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott.

Curators will take us around the world to discover how men and women in many cultures adorned themselves - in ancient Egypt, Africa, China, North America and places in between. It is a long history from feathers to bone to modern accessories such as today’s jewellery.

Visit two of the most unique places in the world.  Watch the stars in the world’s brightest night sky in Chile’s Atacama desert and go behind the scenes of the telescopes used to probe space. Bob McDonald of CBC’s Quirks and Quarks is your resource person.  Then travel to mysterious Easter Island with its famous and majestic statues.
