Family Day Weekend 2013: Carnival at the ROM

Included with Museum Admission.

Dazzling colour and vibrant displays of Carnival welcome you and the kids this Family Day Weekend! Experience artifact touch tables and scavenger hunts that help tell the stories and history of Carnival traditions from around the world.

Activities are daily from 11 am - 4 pm, unless otherwise noted.

Storytelling (12 pm & 2 pm)
Listen to storyteller, Sandra Whiting, as she shares the rich oral traditions, mythology and folklore of West Africa and the Caribbean.

The Carnival King
Help us create our own collaborative Junior King Carnival Costume! Led by Carnival Revolution.

Carnival Touch Tables
Get up close with incredible history of Carnival.

Carnival Art Workshop
Create your own Carnival headpiece!* Led by Carnival Revolution.

*Workshops have limited entry time tickets, first come first served.

Drumming Performances and Workshops
Join the celebration and make some noise in our drumming workshops* led by musicians from AFCY: Arts for Children and Youth.
TIMES: 11:00 PM, 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM**
*Workshops immediately follow performances and have limited entry, first come first served.
**No 3 PM Drumming performance and workshop on Monday February 18th.

Carnival Mask Making
Make your own Carnival inspired mask, get your face painted, and visit the special exhibition Carnival: From Emancipation to Celebration.

Face Painting

ROM Carnival Parade (Monday, February 18, 3 pm)
Wrap up the weekend, make some noise and join the celebration for our ROM Carnival Parade!
