Displaying Rank: Tales of Exhibiting Chinese Costume at the ROM

Dr. Sarah Fee, ROM Associate Curator, Textiles & Costume, will explore her involvement in two planned exhibits about Chinese costume.  The first involves travelling with ROM colleagues to select objects from the imperial collections housed in the Palace Museum in Beijing, for the upcoming special exhibition, Forbidden City (2014).  The second concerns the Textiles & Costume department's ongoing efforts to prepare an online exhibit of part of the ROM's renowned collection of insignia badges which encoded the wearer's rank and status at the Qing Dynasty court.
