Meet Liz Butler!
Liz Butler is a Toronto area artist and teacher and the creator of ROMKids' popular Tumblr series 'Liz Butler Draws the ROM'.
'Liz Butler Draws the ROM' features a gallery or theme that Liz explores through her art and then writes about. Liz has sketched and written about a wide range of topics including dinosaurs, mummified cats, bears, sharks, and more, displaying the Museum in a way never seen before. 'Liz Butler Draws The ROM' is a wonderful series on scientific illustration and a great example of what good science communication, both visual and written, can look like.
Liz will be out today doing a live piece of art, and will be available to talk about her art and what inspires her.
Make sure to check out Liz's acclaimed blog series 'Liz Butler Draws the ROM' HERE!
Water Colour Painting
Be inspired by the ROM's collections of paintings from the First Peoples Gallery and the Gallery of Canada and model your own water colour after some of the greats. So whether you are a classically trained artist like the talented Arthur Heming or self taught like the ground breaking Norval Morrisseau, come and try your hand at making your own masterpiece!
Many great Canadian paintings, such as those on display by Arthur Heming, feature Canada's environment and the animals that live there. Try on some our costumes and act out your Canadian wilderness scene.
The Family Lounge provides a quiet space for families to rest, nurse, and play!
