Curators' Corner: Making of the Life in Crisis: Schad Gallery of Biodiversity

A White Rhino is being put into a glass class by several people

The Life in Crisis: Schad Gallery of Biodiversity is celebrating 4 years since its opening. Join us for Curators' Corner and meet some of the people responsible for creating one of the most popular galleries at the ROM.

Senior Curator of Entomology, Dr. Doug Currie and Senior Artist, Georgia Guenther will be on hand to answer your questions about what goes into the making of a gallery, from specimen choice to the creation of accurate models for display...and everything in between.

Kids can try to be a museum artist as they create their own specimen models, and everyone will have fun trying to discover which specimens in the Schad Gallery had to be recreated for display.

You can also try your hand at being a curator. A number of specimens that didn't make the first cut for the gallery are posted here on our Facebook page. The specimen with the most votes will be temporarily displayed in the gallery this summer.
