Behind the Seams at the Costume Institute

Chris Paulocik worked as the Conservator at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York from 1989 to 2011. She was in charge of conservation, installation and collections. Chris will discuss her experiences behind the scene working with a world famous collection and a demanding exhibition schedule. The Costume Institute houses artifacts ranging from early archaeological shoes and Tudor caps to current runway designer gowns. She has worked with the gamut of materials from Renaissance silks to modern laminated fabrics. She will discuss conservation challenges and highlight some of the exhibitions staged at the Met.
