A Mourning Chorus, by Sara Angelucci

A Mourning Chorus performed by seven female vocal artists.

FREE. Included with Museum Admission.

Based on ROM research and collections, and first performed at the Art Gallery of Ontario, this performance by seven female vocal artists will explore the sounds of disappearing North American song-birds through the historic framework of women's public mourning rituals.

Singers will emerge from the Schad Gallery of Biodiversity and perform as they enter the Rotunda.

Sara Angelucci is a Toronto based visual artist working in photography, video and audio, and is an Adjunct Faculty member in the School of Image Arts, Ryerson University. Angelucci’s work explores vernacular photography and film analyzing the original context in which these images were made. Her work has moved from an investigation of family history to a broader analysis and interpretation of anonymous/found photographs. In recent photography and video projects Angelucci draws from the history of photography, as well as scientific and social histories, transforming found images and repositioning them within the broader cultural context from which they emerge.
