(Toronto, Ontario – February 26, 2015) – The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) welcomes an exciting celebration of March Break, presented by CIBC, jam-packed with the city’s best new adventures in culture, science and more for the whole family to enjoy. Exclusive to the week of March Break, the ROM’s new Futurology program invites ROM visitors of all ages to leave their very own imprint on the museum of tomorrow. March Break at the ROM takes place from Saturday March 14, 2015 to Sunday March 22, 2015.

ROM March Break activities include:

·         Exploring Whales: Get the scoop on the ROM journey to save this world-famous species through important scientific research

·         Experience the ROM Beta idea incubator and learn how ROM Staff develop future galleries and exhibitions

·         Meet ROM curatorial staff and access objects and specimens from the Museum’s Natural History collections

·         Test ROM-inspired digital games from the 2014 Game Jam at the ROM Arcade

·         Create interactive art projects for Douglas Coupland: Everywhere is Anywhere is Anything is Everything, sponsored by TD Bank

Plus, returning to March Break this year is a chance to leap into space with an actual piece of the moon from the ROM’s own Earth and Space collection, and meet and take photos with Leo the Lion, the WPY Mascot, along with Gordo, Gertie, and Gurgle, the ROM’s resident dinosaur mascots.

Activities run from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, and are free with ROM admission.

March Break also marks the closing of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year (WPY) exhibition at the ROM. WPY is a time-ticketed exhibition, and all tickets include a half-hour window to start a visit (WPY admission includes entry to the rest of the Museum, including March Break activities).

Extended ROM March Break evening hours and discounted admission take place on Saturday March 14 to Saturday March 21, from 4:30 to 8:30 pm, and Friday March 13, 2015 is a Best Value Friday. For the latest information visit rom.on.ca/marchbreak.
