ROM Friday Night Live Kicks Off Season 10

TORONTO, September 1, 2016—Friday Night Live (#FNLROM), presented by Ford of Canada, returns to the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) for its 10th season. #FNLROM runs every Friday from 7:00 pm to 11:30 pm beginning September 30 until the November 25, 2016 finale. The return of Toronto’s hottest adult-only social event (19+) features a fresh line-up of DJs, fantastic food vendors, and themes including CHIHULY, fashion and the highly-anticipated Halloween party.

September 30: Spark

Kick off this #FNLROM season and explore colour, light, and form, with complimentary access to our special exhibition CHIHULY. Live performances include the magnetic, captivating and genuinely soulful Sean Jones. Experience Sean’s interpretive performances of soul classics that have wooed fans from across Canada and the U.S. 

October 7: Thanks Canada

Stuff yourself with poutine, maple syrup, and all things Canadian at #FNLROM! Celebrate the bounty of this country as seen in home-grown nature and culture.  Take in the blend of blues, country, and pop by Toronto singer-songwriter Ryan Carr.

October 14: Beer Me!
Celebrate Oktoberfest at the ROM.  From our vaults to tasty malts, find out how hops are good for what ales you! Live, interactive, and exciting performance by The Sidewalk Crusaders.

Pre – FNL event (6:00 pm – 7:00 pm): Lecture: GLASS Virtual, Real: Koen Vanderstukken, free with online RSVP.

October 21: Fashion
Immerse yourself in all things fashion! Meet local designers who draw inspiration from around the world, just like the ROM’s collections. An evening for the senses, this night includes live performances by the gender-bending experimental electronic pop artist Eli Tyler, award-winning multi-instrumentalist Yiannis Kapoulas, and one of Canada’s brightest emerging singer-songwriters Chloe Charles on the mainstage.

Pre – FNL event (6:00 pm – 7:00pm): Film Screening: Masters of Design: Jewellers of the America’s, free with online RSVP.

October 28: Goosebumps
Toronto’s best Halloween party is back.  Eat, drink and be scary! Explore the weird, wild and wacky from the ROM’s collections.  Immerse yourself in the sharp, hallucinatory lyrics and warm electronica of Andrew Fox and Visuals. Satisfy your whimsical fantasies with the soft melodies and catchy hooks of five-piece folk band Olivia and the Creepy Crawlies.

November 4: Country

Saddle up! Whether you prefer cowboy boots or stilettos, the ROM will get you stomping your feet to the music when country comes to the city with local tastes and talents! Canadian Country Music will take the ROM stage with performances by Jade Mya and Drake Jensen.

November 11: Tribute

Honour and celebrate all heroes, both real and mythical, at #FNLROM! Experience the explosive vocals of Toronto-based, Sri Lankan born Roveena.

November 18: Wild

Discover the beauty and diversity of the natural world through stunning photography, with complimentary access to Wildlife Photographer of the year. Local talents take the stage with live performances by PARALLELS, Violets and Viruses, and Goodnight, Sunrise. 

November 25: Afterglow
#FNLROM Season 10 closes with a bang!  Admission includes access to the ROM’s CHIHULY exhibition.   Live performances include Twin Rains and the exquisite Toronto-based singer/songwriter Amanda Martinez. 

Plus, every Friday, ElectriCITY Events sets the scene with the sounds of Toronto’s best DJs.

Advance tickets are available online and at the door. FNL General Admission is $15, $13 for students, and $5 for ROM Members. For guaranteed entry, purchase tickets in advance at www.rom.on.ca/fridays.
