Museum stays open until 9:30 pm Thursdays & Fridays for the next two months
The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is pleased to extend its opening hours to the public as a celebration of Canada Day week. From Monday, July 2 to Friday July, 6, 2007, the Museum will remain open from 10 am to 9:30 pm, offering six diverse exhibitions and numerous permanent galleries to explore. For the rest of the summer, until end of August 2007, the ROM will stay open until 9:30 pm on Thursdays and Fridays, with reduced admission during ROM Friday Nights (4:30 to 9:30 pm). On weekends and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, hours are 10 am to 6 pm.
Visitors this summer can experience the recently-opened Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, including two outstanding special exhibitions in Garfield Weston Exhibition Hall and the Institute for Contemporary Culture’s gallery. Visitors can also enjoy two new dining experiences, Food Studio, the new fresh family eatery, and the new fine dining destination, Crystal Five (C5) Restaurant Lounge. Special exhibitions included with admission are: Drama & Desire, Japanese Paintings from the Floating World, 1690 – 1850 (until August 12, 2007); Ancient Peru Unearthed: Golden Treasures of a Lost Civilization (until September 3, 2007); Hiroshi Sugimoto: History of History (until September 3, 2007); Glass Worlds: Paperweights from the ROM’s Collections (until November 25, 2007); The Black Star Sapphire of Queensland (December 7, 2007); and, from July 7, the new exhibit Early Typewriters (on display until January 2008.)
Admission to the ROM is: Adults: $20; Students with ID and Seniors: $17; Children: $14; Children 4 & under and Members: Free. During ROM Friday Nights (4:30 pm – 9:30 pm): Adults, Students and Seniors $10; Children $5; Children 4 & under: Free. Admission is free one and a half hours before closing, except for specially ticketed exhibitions.
