Kenneth W. Harrigan and Flavia C. Redelmeier to be Recognized at Annual Chairs’ Reception

(Toronto, Ontario – May 6, 2013) Won J. Kim, Chairman of the ROM Board of Trustees and Robert E. Pierce, Chairman of the ROM Board of Governors will host the annual Chairs’ Reception at the Royal Ontario Museum on May 8, 2013. The event celebrates philanthropy at the Museum, acknowledging donors, patrons and sponsors who generously contribute their financial support and considerable time to making the ROM one of the world’s great museums.

"The commitment and dedication of our patrons, corporate sponsors and volunteers has helped make the ROM an indispensable resource for building community by nurturing discovery and inspiring wonder for the past 100 years."

Kenneth W. Harrigan, Heritage Governor, Honorary Trustee, and former Chairman of the ROM Board of Governors and Flavia C. Redelmeier, Heritage Governor and former President of the Department of Museum Volunteers, will both be honoured with the Distinguished Service Award. This prestigious award is presented to individuals who have provided extraordinary and meritorious service to the Museum over an extended period of time. Past Distinguished Service Award recipients include Jack Cockwell, Frank Potter, James and Louise Temerty, Patricia Harris and Jack McOuat.

ROM donors, patrons, sponsors and guests will enjoy a gala dinner by Presidential Gourmet on May 8, 2013 and a live performance by electric harpist Joanna Jordan. An acclaimed musician, Joanna has given private performances for notable individuals including Her Majesty, The Queen Mother; Pierre Elliot Trudeau; and Ella Fitzgerald.
