As Assistant Curator, Anu Liivandi manages information on the textile and costume collection and its visual resources; she facilitates access to the records, maintains the collections database, catalogues objects, performs weave analysis, coordinates acquisitions and loans, and performs other curatorial duties. She teaches a half course on textiles in the Fine Art Department of the University of Toronto. She has also worked as Consultant Editor for textile portions of the Art & Architecture Thesaurus (Oxford University Press, 1994) and as cataloguer of the textile collection at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

She worked on a Ph.D. thesis on the Antinoe silks and their place in the art of the Mediterranean area in the 5th to 7th centuries AD at the University of Toronto and Sorbonne (to be continued), and completed the course on weave and fibre analysis given by Gabriel Vial at the Centre International d'Etude des Textiles Anciens (CIETA) in Lyon. Her general research interests include Late Antique and Medieval textiles of the Mediterranean area, documentation standards and thesaurus development in the area of textiles and costume. She is a member of the Directing Council of the Centre International d'Etude des Textiles Anciens (CIETA), the Documentation and Costume Committees of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), and the Textile Society of America (TSA).
