EMBELLISHED REALITY: INDIAN PAINTED PHOTOGRAPHS

Herman Herzog Levy Gallery

Until March 2012
Never-before-seen works from the ROM's collection showcase the practice of combining old painting styles with the new technology of photography in India. These surprisingly beautiful works provide the historical context to Bollywood cinema showcards. This exhibition complements Bollywood Cinema Showcards: Indian Film Art from the 1950s to the 1980s.

Embellished Reality: Indian Painted Photographs has been made possible through funding provided by the Government of Ontario. This acquisition was made possible with generous support from the South Asian Research and Acquisition Fund.
