About Us

Volunteers & Interns

The ROM relies on the contribution of our volunteers who provide their time and service to help support Museum activities such as the delivery and creation of programs, curatorial research and collections work. Our volunteers include trustees, research associates, curators emeriti, postsecondary or graduate students working in a curatorial department or in the field, secondary school students working on a cooperative-education term on Museum premises or volunteering in the Hands-on galleries, and members of the Department of Museum Volunteers.

The Department of Museum Volunteers (DMV), with membership over 600, is an autonomous association of members that supports the Museum’s activities. Volunteers lead gallery tours, greet visitors, run special interest programs and organize both local and international travel programs. Since its inception, the DMV has significantly supported the ROM’s Research and Acquisition Fund. See DMV Policies.

Internships at the ROM

The Museum does not have a formal internship program. From time to time, departments may entertain internship requests. Please send an e-mail to info@rom.on.ca indicating your area of interest, your postsecondary institution and your program of studies. We will direct your inquiry to the appropriate department. Please note we will only contact interested applicants when an internship is available that matches their skills and abilities.
