When is the best time to visit?
The Museum facilitates school groups during the mornings. Our experience has been that afternoon and mid-week are quiet times to visit.

Are there any free days?
The ROM offers half price admission on Fridays from 4:30 pm to 9:30 pm. General admission to the Museum is free every Wednesday from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm; offer excludes admission to specially ticketed exhibitions.  See Tickets & Hours for more information.

May I use a credit card to pay admission?
Yes. The Museum accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Interac, and U.S. cheque cards at our Admissions Desk. Online tickets may be purchased with Visa, MasterCard or American Express.

Is my admission good for the entire day? Can I leave and re-enter the Museum?
Yes. Your tickets provide General Admission to the Museum for the entire day of your visit. Timed tickets to special exhibitions must be used at the time assigned when you arrive.  ROM staff will provide you with a ticket prior to entering the Museum.

Can I purchase admission in advance?
Yes. You can purchase your ticket online and use it once anytime one year from the purchase date for general admission only; subject to change. You may also purchase advance tickets at the ROM Admission Desk.

Do I need reservations or tickets for special exhibitions?
Entrance to all permanent galleries and special exhibitions is included with paid general admission; subject to change. For some of our larger and popular exhibitions, we use timed-tickets to manage movement and avoid crowding of spaces.

Where can I find a list of exhibitions at the Museum?

Where can we shop and dine?
Located at the pinnacle of the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, c5 Restaurant Lounge provides superlative five-star dining along with a spectacular view of downtown Toronto. On Level B1, Food Studio is a casual family restaurant dedicated to providing healthy menu options in an earth-friendly environment.

On Level 1, ROM Museum Store carries an amazing array of souvenirs, mementos and merchandise inspired by our permanent galleries and special exhibitions. Also available is an exclusive assortment of reproductions and adaptations of pieces from the ROM’s own collections. On Level B1, ROMkids Store offers toys, books and interactive fun for the kid in all of us.

Does the ROM have a parking garage or lot available to visitors?
No. There are several paid lots within walking distance of the Museum. They are located at:

Parking9 Bedford Road, north of Bloor Street, west of Avenue Road

Parking37 Yorkville Ave, north of Bloor Street, east of Bay Street

See the map for locations. Discounted parking is available at the Toronto Parking Authority municipal parking lot ("green p") at 9 Bedford Road. A three-hour minimum stay is required. Ask for a parking discount coupon at the Admissions Desk. Alternatively, there is metred parking on several side streets in the Bloor/Yorkville area.

Can I bring a stroller?
Yes, but strollers are not permitted in the CIBC Discovery Room and to protect our collections and facilitate the movement of our visitors, we may require that large strollers be left at the Museum entrance. We will provide a Museum stroller for the duration of your visit.

May I sketch in the Museum?
Sketching may be prohibited for some special exhibitions, due to contractual agreements with lending institutions or individuals. Visitors are welcome to sketch in the permanent galleries using pen and pencil only. Easels are not permitted, freehand only.

May I take photographs or videos?
Personal, non-commercial photography is permitted and we encourage you to collect memories of your visit. Camera stands or supports (such as, but not limited to tripods or monopods) and lighting attachments are prohibited. Photography may be prohibited in selected exhibitions.

Is the new Museum accessible to people with disabilities?
Yes. The Museum has a limited number of wheelchairs for use free-of-charge with identification. Tactile experiences are offered and other special programming. Large-print Museum information is available at the Admissions Desk. See Accessibility for further information.

How do I arrange a visit for a group?

Why can't I bring my backpack/large bag into the galleries?
Large bags and backpacks are not permitted in the exhibitions, galleries, or in the Education labs for security reasons and for the safety of our very fragile and irreplaceable artifacts. You may leave bags free of charge at the coat check at the Museum’s entrance. Coats may be checked for $2 each.
