What material is in the holdings of the Library & Archives?
The Main Library specializes in the subject areas reflected by the ROM’s collections and museology. The collections of the H.H. Mu Far Eastern Library include books on the arts and archaeology of East Asia, South Asia, Central Asia and Southeast Asia. The Archives contain historical documents relating to the Museum, including manuscripts and photographs. For more information, see Library & Archives.
Who can access library and archival materials?
The Library & Archives is open to the general public for reference use only. Students, researchers and Museum visitors can access material within the library spaces. For more information, see Library & Archives.
May I borrow a book or journal from the Library & Archives?
The holdings of the Library & Archives are non-circulating. Exceptions include Museum staff, students in the Museum Studies Program at the University of Toronto, and University of Toronto faculty.
May I donate a book or journal to the Library & Archives?
The Library & Archives will accept donations of objects that meet our collecting priorities and enhance our holdings. Tell us what you have. Direct your enquiry to Library & Archives.
