How should I register for or book a school visit?

How should I register for or book a school visit?
Applications can be submitted online or by fax. Please review full instructions and discover how to book a School Visit at the Royal Ontario Museum. Your reservation will be confirmed within two to four weeks.

What time do your lessons run in the mornings and afternoons?
Morning lessons run any time between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm. Afternoon lessons run any time between 12:30 and 4:30 pm.

How long are the programs?
All programs are 60 or 90 minutes unless otherwise stated.

If I have more than one group, can they do different topics?
Yes. Please fill in an application form for each group and cross-reference the applications.

Can one of my classes have a guided lesson and the other class view the same exhibitions independently at the same time?
No. While lessons are in progress, self-guided visitors are not permitted in the exhibitions.

Do I have to pay extra for a self-guided visit, if I'm booked for a lesson?
No. If you have a lesson, the price of a self-guided visit is included.

Can memberships be used towards Education programs?
Memberships cannot be used to cover programs guided by Museum staff. They can be used for students and/or supervisors visiting the Museum for self-guided visits booked through the Education Department.

Do you have a cafeteria where our students can eat?
Yes, but lunch space MUST be reserved. Book early—space is very limited. Priority is given to elementary students. Brown bag lunches are permitted or food may be purchased. Secondary students are encouraged to eat their lunch outside the Museum. There are a number of inexpensive restaurants within a five minute walk.

I already sent in my application. How do I get a reservation?
We will send your reservation by fax, e-mail or mail. Depending on the date you selected and due to the high volume of applications received, it can take anywhere from two to four weeks or more to confirm your reservation.

Does the ROM have a parking garage or lot?
No. Buses may park in front of the Museum. Drivers must stay with their vehicles and turn off their engines. There are several paid lots within walking distance of the Museum. They are located at:

Parking9 Bedford Road, north of Bloor Street, west of Avenue Road

Parking37 Yorkville Ave, north of Bloor Street, east of Bay Street

See the map for locations. Discounted parking is available at the Toronto Parking Authority municipal parking lot ("green p") at 9 Bedford Rd. A three-hour minimum stay is required. Ask for a parking discount coupon at the Admissions Desk. Alternatively, there is metered parking on several side streets in the Bloor/Yorkville area.
